10 days after my birthday 10 years ago I went to visit my nephew. He was 6 at the time. It was a tradition that I would go see him after trick or treating because he gave me the good candy bars. After staying for a while it was time for me to leave. As I was leaving he asked if he could spend the night in which I told him no. At 3am I received a phone call from my brothers neighbor. My brother’s place caught fire. I rushed to his place. Seeing 4 to 5 fire trucks and 2 or 3 ambulances in the rd. I jumped out and ran to find my loved ones. Luckily my brother his wife and my two youngest nephews made it out. Unfortunately my oldest nephew Ethan Ray Miller did not. I lost him that night. I took alot out of me. I tormented myself. I should of took him with me. I had no ryme or reason to say no. I’ve learned alot of hard lessons in my life but this was the hardest. Treasure the day and respect the bad as well as the good. Life is short. Some times your time is important not just to yourself but others. Take time to listen. Tomorrow is not promised.
