We had the pleasure of hosting Jon Petz at the Sarasota-Manatee HR Association Fall Conference. He told Nathan’s story, and there was not a single dry eye in the audience. We, as HR Professionals often deal with really difficult and personal stories, and we maintain our stoic faces and attitudes because in that moment our responsibility is to keep it together, and help our employees navigate their personal life crisis. We are always the strong presence. It was really cathartic to be able to feel that rush of emotion, and not feel that you have to repress it. I am looking forward to passing on my 7 of Hearts to the next person!
I started going into the American Legion in Bonita Springs about 7 yrs ago and came across a woman named Jan but didn’t really get to know her until 3 years ago. She asked me to get involved as an Officer and I accepted. Today we are best friends and she shares her “be kind” signs she makes to a lot of people that come into her life. She is the most amazing person I have ever met and she has become family to me.
Prior to the presentation by Joe at the HR Florida annual event, a stranger, sat down and joined us at our table at the event, and we introduced ourselves. Her name was Lori and when I stated my name she repeated it and said oh my gosh, you help me start my business. I said oh Lori, I remember you, you moved from up north to Florida and you were starting a training business. She said yes and you connected me with my first, professional colleague, and I have been working with her for seven years. We created our moments unbeknownst to either one of us that we see each other again. Then later in that session, Joe presented about making moments and I thought I better take a seven of hearts card because of our serendipity meeting that day

Jon Petz came and was the final speaker at a local HR conference. The message encouraged us to not doubt the amount of impact you can be to someone with what can seem to be a small insignificant moment.

When I was in high school, my teacher made us write out 3 sentences that started with “I’m just”. Afterwards we erased and wrote “I am”. My valedictorian, also, in high school talked about staying present in the moment. This book reminded me of both of these meaningful messages.
When we were out in the desert. There was a magician giving a show. We were making fun of him but I realized he actually made me laugh. Jon’s message reminded of this moment with my friends.
